Traveling can be a whirlwind of excitement, especially when you pack five countries and eight cities into just two weeks. The thrill of new experiences, the joy of discovering the same stores in different countries, the lack of rest, and the inevitable jet lag all blend together into an unforgettable adventure. Join me as I recount my solo journey through bustling cities, serene landscapes, and everything in between.

Day 1: Toronto, Canada

My adventure began on September 3, 2023, with a 12-hour layover in Toronto—Drake's own city. This was my first time in Toronto, and it reminded me so much of Lagos, Nigeria. The hustle and bustle of the city, combined with the vibrant, diverse population, felt strikingly familiar. In Toronto, the white race was a minority.

During my layover, I managed to squeeze in some sightseeing. I started my day with breakfast at Eviva, and then took a stroll around downtown, which was buzzing with activity. Despite the limited time, the city's energy was infectious. I was also excited to see my friend, whom I hadn't seen in three years. We caught up over drinksss, and reminisced about old times.

As the day came to a close, I made my way back to the airport around 10 PM for my flight to London. The anticipation of the journey ahead filled me with excitement, and I couldn't wait to see my family.

Day 2 - 4: England

Arriving in London early the next morning, I made my way to the coach station to catch a coach to Birmingham. I stayed in Birmingham for two days, mainly indulging in some shopping. After my short stay in Birmingham, I headed back to London.

Back in London, I couldn't resist visiting ENISH, a popular Nigerian restaurant. The meal was so delicious that I lost track of time and ended up being late for my next flight. Luckily for me, my flight was delayed, giving me just enough time to be allowed to check in.

Day 4 - 6: Amsterdam, Netherlands

My favourite city! I knew I had limited time so I had to make the best out of this city. Thanks to my Wanderlog app (you should definitely download it) ,I had an efficient itinerary planned out.

Amsterdam's charm is unparalleled, with its picturesque canals, vibrant neighborhoods, and rich cultural history. I spent my days exploring the city's iconic sights. The Red District light... hmmm. Van Gogh and Moco Museum was a highlight, with its impressive collection of the artist's works. A leisurely canal cruise by BuddhaLoungeBoat offered a unique perspective of the city's beauty, and I was captivated by the historic architecture. I also made new friends and we made our way to one of the "coffeeshops." Afterwards, I headed to the Heineken Experience (for someone that doesn't drink beer, I had no business here). Also, did I mention, bicycles everywhere?

Day 6 - 8 : Rome, Italy

For those that don't know me, Italy has always been on my mind. I love the language, and I do speak basic phrases thanks to Duolingo.

Did you go to Rome without trying out gelato or visiting the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum and the Sant 'Ignazio of Loyal Church ? That was basically what Rome was all about for me coupled with a lot of walking.

Rome’s historical aura is unmatched. The Trevi Fountain was a majestic sight and chaotic, and I made sure to toss a coin, wishing *********. The Colosseum left me in awe of its grandeur and the history it holds. Wandering through the ruins and imagining the gladiatorial combats was surreal. Sant'Ignazio of Loyola Church, with its stunning Baroque architecture and captivating ceiling frescoes, was another highlight. However, don't forget “Attenzione, borseggiatrici! Attenzione, pickpocket!” Keep your belongings secured, as Rome, like many tourist-heavy cities, has its share of petty crime.

Day 8 - 12 : Venice , Milan and Lake Como, Italy

From Rome, I caught the fast train to Venice, dropped off my belongings at the hotel, and immediately set out to explore this unique city built on canals. The following day, I traveled to Milan, where I opted for a nostalgic stay in a six-person dormitory—a throwback to my high school days. The experience was surprisingly enjoyable, offering a chance to meet fellow travelers and share stories. The next morning, I met up with friends and embarked on a journey to Lake Como. (One thing is for sure do not believe everything on the internet) . We returned back to Milan that night and the next morning I made my way back to Venice - the city of love and No, I didnt find love.

Venice felt like a fairytale—a maze of winding streets, elegant bridges, and captivating architecture reflected in the shimmering waters of the canals. The romantic ambiance of Venice was undeniable.

The only problem is finding a taxi to the airport.

Day 12 - Day 13 : Paris, France.

I am hoping you figured out from my previous message that I missed my flight. So my 24hours was cut to 17hours. Tbh, I don't think I got to explore Paris well but it did remind me of London and Milan. I think my highlight was definitely the Hotel I stayed - Hotel Chateau Frontenac.

Day 13 - 14 : Back to London

Took a train back to London and I do hope the immigration officer that scrutinized my passport with such intensity found the missing gold. You needed to be there, I waited for like 30minutes - probably thought it was fake ...."cries in Nigerian passport".

I wont even talk about Frankfurt because I don't recall leaving my hotel. 🤣

As I look back on my journey, I am grateful for the opportunity to immerse myself in diverse cultures and create memories that will last a lifetime. Jet lagged but loving it, I have returned home with a renewed sense of wanderlust and many exciting stories to tell.

Thank you for joining me on this adventure. Until the next journey awaits

What an incredible journey! Your adventure through five countries and eight cities in two weeks is impressive. Toronto's vibrant energy, Amsterdam's picturesque canals, and Rome's historical grandeur all sound amazing. Venice truly does feel like a fairytale, and your tip about staying vigilant in Rome is spot on. Missing out on exploring Paris more must have been a bummer, but the Hotel Chateau Frontenac sounds like a highlight. Despite the travel hiccups, it’s great to see you embraced every moment. What was the most unexpected highlight of your trip?
